HMD has recently implemented a multi-brand strategy for its smartphones, while continuing to use the Nokia name for its feature phones. The Finnish manufacturer recently introduced three new handsets, each offering a contemporary take on classic designs– Nokia 6310 (2024), 5310 (2024), and 230 (2024).
Nokia 6310 (2024)
The 2024 version of this phone introduces several new features. It shares similarities with the 2021 Nokia 6310, but HMD has upgraded it with a larger 1,450 mAh battery and a USB-C port.
The remaining specifications are consistent: a VGA camera with a rear flash, a 2.8-inch front LCD, dual-SIM functionality with standby support for both cards, and an additional slot for microSD cards.
Nokia 5310 (2024)
In this case, HMD chose to retain the overall design from the 5310 (2020), but the handset has actually increased in size. It is now taller and wider, allowing for a larger 1,450 mAh battery. The new chipset is the Unisoc 6531F, replacing the previous Mediatek platform. Additionally, the larger footprint accommodates a 2.8-inch LCD screen.
The Nokia 5310 is closely associated with music, and it's reminiscent of the 2007 XpressMusic classic. On this phone, the play buttons are located on the right side, while the volume keys are on the left. The HMD device also features a USB-C port on the bottom, while internally retaining the same specifications: 8/16 MB memory (with a microSD card slot), dual speakers, and FM radio.
Nokia 230 (2024)
The Nokia 230 underwent the same treatment as its two siblings: a similar design with an upgraded battery. The phone's footprint remains unchanged from the 2015 release, and it still features a 2.8-inch TFT display with 65K colors. The device features identical 2 MP cameras with LED flash modules on both the front and rear panels.
The primary distinction lies in the 1,450 mAh battery capacity and the inclusion of a USB-C port. Additionally, the Unisoc 6531F chipset enables Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, while other specifications such as the 3.5 mm audio jack and 8/16 MB remain consistent.
The pricing details for these phones were not disclosed by HMD. It's worth noting that all three phones are restricted to 2G networks and won't function on 3G or newer networks.
